Quick Tips For Sending Digital Files to Industrial Print & Labels
• When sending files from a PC, convert fonts to paths/artwork/outlines. In some cases the font files may be included.
• When sending files from a Mac, include all the font files on the disk.
• Include all scans or ‘linked’ artwork on the disk. Always include the original files. Please do not send an export of an export (especially when sending Quark XPress files). Refrain from “Embedding” artfiles, and please include all images. This will help if troubleshooting your file is necessary during pre-press.
• Always include a current or final color print when sending a file.
• PDF Files can be accepted.
Please Make sure:
• PDF/X 1A Compliant
• Pre-Press ready not web ready PDF Documents.
• Insure that all fonts are embedded in the file.
• Use the lowest compression for all images, minimum 300 dpi for color images, 600 dpi for monochrome, and 1200 dpi for bitmap images. The document size will increase, but this will reduce delays incurred with troubleshooting a non-compliant file.
• Make sure the color images are in CMYK Format, not RGB.
• Do Not send a scanned PDF File document, these will still need to be recreated, and will require extra time.
• Include a Color / BW printout of the Final PDF File, to assure the document is accurate before sending.
• Please call the graphics department with any concerns regarding your files, to facilitate the production of your job.
